Mersey Weaver Trek

Mersey Weaver Trek is an Annual expedition in July open to older Cubs and Younger Scouts from any Scout group in the District. Scouts walk approx 12km in teams of 3-6, camp overnight and cook their own evening meal. Every one who takes part receive’s a special necker and a complimentary breakfast the following morning. Trek is a fantastic way to get an introductory feel of what’s involved in participating in an event like Cheshire Hike or just opportunity for our younger Scouts to experience the Great Outdoors!
To make the event even more exciting, Trek will be a biathlon event where teams can also complete in an air rifle competition when they arrive at Queen Charlotte’s Wood.

GPS Tracking
To safely facilitate this event we are asking for parental permission to use GPS tracking software on young people’s phones. The tracking will take place only for the duration of the activity. The data connection to the tracking server is encrypted and hosted on a private Mersey Weaver owned server. The Tracking will assist route marshals to locate hikers if they become lost.
To enable the tracking, young people should install the Traccar Client app from the Apple App or Google Play Store on their mobile phone. To configure the app you will need to enable location tracking.  In the device identifier field type the security code on your E-ticket (please note this is case sensitive). In the Server URL field please enter https://traccar.mwscouts.org then toggle the service status to on when you arrive at the hike start. See a screenshot of configuration.
